Community & Economic Development

We are unique as a small rural area in that we have two separate departments involved in efforts to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the community. We also have a full-time professional staff person responsible for each separate department. One department is the community development office, directed by Bill Mitchell, and the other department is the economic development office, directed by Jack Wright.

The community development office is involved in planning, coordinating and administering an awesome amount of community improvement projects in conjunction with the local city and county governments and several other local government agencies.

The economic development office is involved in attracting new businesses and industries to the community and to retain and/or expand employment of existing businesses and industries all of which for the purpose of creating more jobs in Pendleton County.

Also unique is that these two departments are housed in a separate stand-alone community owned facility know as the Community & Economic Development Center. The Community & Economic Development Center is located in the Citizens Building, 135 West Shelby Street, in historic downtown Falmouth
