Severe Weather Threat

Sunday, February 27 through Monday, February 28, 2011

The National Weather Service has forecast severe weather coming into our area tonight and tomorrow morning. There is a potential for severe winds and isolated tornadoes.

Also, the heaviest rainfall of the system is forecast for the Northern Kentucky area—river levels will rise but no major flooding is predicted. But with the ground already saturated, river flooding will continue to be a concern.  If you live along the river and flood prone areas, be prepared to take appropriate action.  For river level and other weather information, go to: www.pendletoncounty.ky.gov and look under Hot Topics on the Home page or the Emergency Management page.

Turn Around Don't Drown NWSThe greater threat is small stream flooding. So if you live along flood prone areas, please be aware. If you encounter water over a roadway, do not attempt to drive through it, please...STOP…TURN AROUND…DON'T DROWN!

If you encounter downed power lines, do not approach…call 911, Emergency Management or the electric company and provide the location.

Stay in tune with the latest weather forecasts and be sure to monitor your NOAA Weather Radio and local TV and radio stations for weather updates, alerts and important safety messages.  Check on neighbors and family members to make sure they are aware of this potential threatening weather and ask if they are able to receive alert warnings.
