The City of Butler is located 8 miles north of Falmouth, also near the Licking River. The name Butler was chosen in honor of W.D. Butler, a member of Congress from this district. This city once boasted the longest wooden covered bridge in Kentucky. Butler was founded in 1868. Today, Butler is a quiet community with 625 residents.

Council meetings are held at 7PM the first Monday of the month in the historical Butler Deposit Bank building pictured to the left now restored to function as City Hall.
